UCC from Corporation Service Company? Anyone know who files this UCC?
I have a merchant with a UCC from Corporation Service Company . Merchant doesn't know who it is, any idea who files UCC under this name? Or how to find out?

CSC will file on a funder's behalf as like a proxy. The purpose is to hide the secured party's identity. Good chance the merchant has an advance.

CSC has an email where you can send inquiries on UCC's filed by them.
They reach out to the secured party and have them contact you back!
But yes, most likely a cash advance

Not always a broker inquiring tho, most times it is the funding company not the broker.
And I would rather reach out to them and have my balance closed - rather than the deal getting into a broker's hands who will stack on top
Right?

Right. There is only one advance showing on the statements, and that company has a separate UCC. So we need to make sure the merchant didn't default on another advance company. The merchant is stating they never had any other advance. We contacted CSC on conference call with the merchant, CSC would not give any info but said they will have the secured company contact the merchant.

Most cash advance companies are sloppy about releasing their UCC's after payoff. I'm willing to bet the merchant has done some sort of advance/loan in the past. Could be from several years ago. CSC is almost always a cash company. Other types of financing companies like banks/lease companies WANT their name to show up. Cash companies...notsomuch. I wouldn't worry about a default. It's probably just an unreleased UCC with a zero balance. We see them quite often.
