Specialties of each lender
Does anyone have any info on what types of products each of the lenders specializes in? I am just opening my own shop and figured this could save me a lot of time.

ARF can offer your merchants a working capital loan with a weekly ACH - terms from 9-18 months. We also have a Line of Credit product that's very appealing to merchants. Give me a call!

I don't understand your question, Chambo. We send the loan docs to the merchant to sign, unless the ISO happens to be in the same area as the merchant.

you understand perfectly well. ARF sends a live rep out to the merchant to close the deal and receive signed documents.
Of course, not always aligning themselves with the best interest of the ISO who submitted.

I apologize that you have been completely misinformed. I checked around to see what you were referring to... when we launched the ISO program 8 years ago, it was more like a glorified referral partner program. ISOs were not so well versed on our loan documents and yes, a rep would do the leg work on the deal to get it closed. When the ISO program evolved and ISOs wanted more control over their own deals, that process was done away with. In the 4.5 years I've been with ARF, I have never closed a deal in that fashion.

You're a negative Nelly, aren't you? Matt Fox was a sales rep for ARF - ask him if he was ever responsible for closing an ISO's loan...

honestly, when ISO's gripe about lenders calling the merchant, it shows the shadyness of the ISO, they are banging up the merchants credit shipping the deal to 15 lenders at once and keeping the l;ender on the hook just in case something better comes in... ISO's that have strong in house underwriting and know where to place deals don't cry about this, because they are getting paid and doing less work...

Or it is a savvy rep who knows how to keep shady funders in check, as they try to take over the deal and squeeze out the rep by lowering commissions down to zero.
The more the Funders can push out the reps, the more they protect themselves against the deal flipping. If they convince the merchant to cease speaking to rep, they can slowly whittle down commissions to zero on the downsell.

I am not the biggest fan of funders calling my merchants before the deal is closed either.. main reason.. these are relationships that I have built over many years of being in business. I don't like people calling my people and trying sleazy tactics to "hard close" my deals.
In most situations I am dealing with sophisticated business owners who are in the know. The majority of the people I am dealing with aren't using this money to pay debts or float operating capital.. they are using the money to acquire competitors business' or fund large sales where they are making more than the 30% they get charged for using the money. A few of my customers use money to expand to new markets as well (looking for 750k for a guy who wants to expand into China right now btw)
I don't usually do deals for people who are on their way out.. I would rather look at the long run and keep relationships strong so after this industry is done and gone (nothing this good lasts forever) these people are still in my book of business.

We understand that you feel most comfortable hiding behind your keyboard, blasting off accusations with no meaning. I only contact merchants upon my ISOs request, to HELP them, not hurt them. You would not understand this since I've never had the pleasure (for lack of a better word) of working with you in my 4+ years with the company. Best of luck to you!
