Chabmo whats wrong with funding someone that had financial difficulties in the past, if an UW feels that its OK to purchase a little of his future sales receivables ?

When I pulled into a Racetrac this morning to get some gas (shout out to Allison Moran) and a homeless man asked me for a dollar i could have made a thousand excuses why not to help the man and 990+ of them would have made sense Yet i helped the man! I see no reason why a merchant that has had a terrible background should be judged and denied a helping hand so long as he has ongoing receivables to purchase at a discount.

well the person in the parking lot didn't enter an agreement with a US court and the people he owed money to. So you lend them money make them violate a court approved bankruptcy because you will be taking money from him that should be going to other people and lets see what happens next.. You have said plenty of things I disagree with but this one takes the cake.

    You're both right...

Chambo, I don't make the rules, I just try to close the deals... I know our underwriters are adventurous, but they are also extremely diligent and careful. We take our fiduciary responsibility very seriously, and would never, ever sink a merchant through negligent underwriting policies.

Marcus, Nothing... Nothing at all. As long as it's done carefully, and done to help the merchant, not for those double digit commissions...

What's wrong with giving a merchant a second position, when they have already declared before the courts that they cannot pay their debts as is, with ZERO advances?
I'm the the debtors would strongly disagree with you on your position.....and unfortunately for you, they have the power of the US Government and EVERY SINGLE STATE in the nation on their side

if he is joking saying on a public forum that you want to lend into an open bankruptcy with a court approved payment to creditors is just not smart. The loan and payments made on it would effect the persons ability to make those payments, saying stuff like that can come back to bite you in the ass.. If he is joking which I am not sure he was it just not smart

I said we will look at the file.. We underwrite extremely thoroughly, I believe people confuse our extreme speed of a few hours with somehow not calculating all your (very important!) concerns, John Rest assure just like at the airport although a plane coming in from Tokyo only sits at JFK for an HOUR before going right back to Tokyo that 1 HOUR an extreme robust mechanical evaluation takes place but can understand for the average person why they should be concerned and may be worried about all the concerns that mechanics may not being a great job...don't be concerned they know what they are doing to the tune of putting on people...same with these kind of files we cover all your concerns.
