    Multiple ACH Debits

    Can Anyone Give Some Advice?
Have a deal that we consolidated, requested updated payoff letters for another lender. They would not give an updated payoff letter, so we took the previous balance, and subtracted the daily ACH amount, and were able to verify that those payments cleared via bank statement. We wired the payoff to the other lender, and conveniently the following day, they debit the merchant's account 7 times in one day, and has continued to debit multiple times since the payoff. Now the lender is claiming that they had bounced payments in an attempt to justify the multiple debits in one day, and still will not confirm a balance. Obviously, they are doing this, but isn't this a breech of contract where ACH Authorization is concerned? What can I tell the merchant to do other than contact his bank and dispute the charges?
