I don't see any short term implications to our industry. There has been and will continue to be consolidation within the processing industry and this was just the latest example of it. There will be more to come.

Hugh News was back in the day when a company called Concord EFS was buying an ISO/Processor a week and was paying real money for example they bought CPS (card payment systems) with only 18,000 merchants for 179M.

That's interesting, so you think this is the beginning of all the tribes (independent co.) join together one by one to be a conglomerate?

It already has happened to a certain degree. Take the recent Global acquisition of Heartland - both top tier - top 10 acquirers. Or Vantiv acquisition of Mercury and quite a few others. There is more to come in the near and not so distant future.

mcaguru - my apologies that it's not up to par for your standard of "hugh news" sic: huge, but huge enough news for you to name drop the ceo. just thought it would be nice to share, being that it pertains to our industry.

Its all good. that's the life cycle of business its like the sea...eventually the company that bought Transfirst is bought by a private equity company and before long a KKR / Blackrock / Blackstone / Ichan / Peltz buys the private equity company that has been doing all the buying.

regarding name dropping..i have been in the payment processing business for a long time and hold positions in several of them.
