All the cases are more or less the same. In this case a mail order pharmacy has an opportunity to purchase around $1.5 million of a popular drug that they will sell over the next 6 months.
the company has been around for years, has a healthy balnce sheet, low 7 figure Sba loan/line and solid cash flow.

LOL. I've ran across some deals lately with merchants trying to get funding with ridiculous scenarios...this is one of the best!
Don't get high on your own supply!

I also would not want to finance meds this way but I wonder why you don't. If we could buy out the existing lender there are many other lenders who would look at the inventory as a part of the deal.

Imagine yourself as a lender with a default in this scenario and rx meds as collateral. The rules and regs of picking those up, transporting, possessing, and reselling have to be a nightmare beyond comprehension. I don't think there are any lenders that would touch it.

I agree as standalone collateral it would be difficult. Before bonded warehouses lost poularity it is morw difficult. However taken as a component of an ABL the deal will work.

Pharmaceutical inventory is hard to finance due to some companies handling controlled substances. It requires bonding, proper logs and storage and inventory tracking, the industry is subject to FDA regulations and a lot of fraud in that industry. From time to time manufacturers request that certain lots be taken out of circulation and the lender must really know the regulations behind each drug. Like Fund says, really hard to finance as a standalone collateral, however, if the main collateral is the company's receivables and the lender is willing to give an over advance based on the inventory, might be doable. Your best bet is either ABL, traditional finance or factoring.

I agree with both of you but for different reasons.
I really wanted an answer and explanation from Pledgecap who I know almost little about.
I run into bonded warehouse deals fairly lately and was hoping to find out if they could use inventory as part of an ABL. Stephanie's answer did not clarify my question and to her I apologize for being unclear.
Does anyone know Pledgecap's loan terms?

Think - pawn shop meets title loans - but for businesses. Definitely a place for their niche, but I would consider as one of the last resorts.
