you've obviously never been to the midwest, you can find a good location for a small bar for around 1k a month in rent and utilities. as long as you keep the bar stocked for under 5k a month which isn't hard because you'll mostly be selling beer, for a town of 500-1000 people you'd be making decent money.

I've lived in the Midwest for many years - which is not relevant to the conversation - Add in insurance, labor, taxes, repairs, this business owner is NOT making $$$.
