So first off, I work for a CRM company so I am not bias at all.
A few key points in my professional opinion:
- An industry specific CRM will/should give you a good majority of what you want out of the box. No CRM is perfect therefore will never give you 100% of what you want.
- Industry specific CRM's are quite a bit cheaper as if the CRM is not industry specific, normally you have to hire an individual or team to customize it for the industry.
- Multi-lender submission and submission tracking so you don't have to individually send packages to your funders. Will save tons of time.
- Robust trigger system that can be configured so automatic emails and text messages and esign docs can be sent out based on something happening in the CRM.
- Doc management system where all docs can be securely stored and then sent out via email at a later time.
- Client portal so merchants can upload docs, see status of processing, see tasks that are on them to complete, etc
- Robust data management tech so you can query your database to find data you want to utilize for calling, emailing, texting, etc
- Solid pipeline management tech so reps can see what data they have in certain statuses to create priorities on their day. Hot data and engaged data should come first.
- Reports, reports, reports. No system will be perfect for reporting but as always, reports are crucial to success.
There is quite a bit more that is required for a good ISO CRM but above are some main ones that in 17 years of working for a finance dedicated tech company, are the most important. I would also make sure the CRM company you choose has a quality customer support team and a good training program. Everyone seems to want a "Simple" CRM that gets the job done. Unfortunately, you aren't building bricks here. ISO's and Funders are selling and offering a complex product which requires a complex system to operate it. The question is, how deep do you want to go?
Anyway, my thoughts. Here is a demo link to our CRM if you are interested.
