Doubt there will be shutdowns as severe as the first time around, keeping business open and having less of an impact on businesses. Hopefully the state and federal government realized the cons far outweighed the pros when taking such drastic measures.

Early indications are that this is a more virulent and less lethal variant. Hopefully only a couple more rounds of these "waves" before everyone has some sort of immunity to it. I highly doubt there will be widespread lockdowns anymore at this point.

I'm hoping that this variant becomes the boy who cried wolf and the mild variant spreads quickly, saturates and then goes away quickly. The only problem is that the politicians can claim "we told you so, lockdowns work" no matter if it fades or if it doesn't fade.
