Web based lead harvesting
I have access to a marketing company that will help me drive traffic to a website, or landing page, to harvest forms to call. This would be an alternative to cold calling data.
Am I wasting my time?
Thanks you!

Per Dave's comment, unless you are driving your own traffic and owning the whole thing from start to finish, I wouldn't waste your time or money.

As long as your CPA is feasible, then do it! Only one way to find out is by trying it, set a budget you are willing to test with and give it a go.
Obviously, it would be much more advantageous to do it yourself.

It comes down to the cost of the traffic and who is working the traffic. The reason people still cold call is because you can reach a lot of people in a cost efficient (but time consuming) manner.
If you can bring a ton of traffic inexpensively, that part of the battle is a win.
You can ask what type of traffic it is, but the question may be moot; if the merchants are filling out a page giving their sales and answering other questions, that will qualify them, and even if most are unqualified, you will know that from a quick glance of the forms they fill out.
The next important question will be... who will be calling these opt-ins and how well in advance do you know if the call is even worth it. That's where a campaign usually derails, as a lot of time can be wasted calling a bunch of start ups, DNQs, which kills morale and creates a subconscious write off of the campaign.
You definitely want to have some quality control measures in place early on so you can know what you're producing.
If sales people are hungry lions, don't hand them steak that turns out to be colored soap, because now the steak becomes you. Know in advance.

You have to figure out the cpl and see if it is worth it .My entire shop is only inbound leads and it works very well for us.i will tell you that every shop that tries inbound on small budgets fail. You need to be ready to start off spending $10,000 plus a month so you can filter out all the unqualified leads .

That’s a very true statement. You basically have to be using money you are okay with losing, or you won’t really obtain enough data to provide a conclusive result.
Most campaigns, especially the ones you build internally, and/or the ones that are cost effective, require an upfront investment and an ongoing spend before you start seeing the results you want. As most companies don’t like to lose money, they usually abort good ideas before they’ve really had time to manifest, when they should be looking at it as an investment into R & D to grow your future.

fully agree if you are not ready to spend on a decent test size do not bother. I will also add that anything you will want on your own landing page that the leads come to you branded and the marketing team does not have that info

Gotcha. However both those industries were virgin territory online (maybe wrong choice of word, given the subject), but adult was cable tv and magazine based, and the vast majority of gaming profits came from console, handheld, and Pc software.
There were the online casino-style games but I don’t recall a ton of online competition. I’m curious to know what the online reach was back then.
I respect the gaming portion; I had a site rank number one for “video game careers”
