Marine One does not escort Air Force One......that is not what I said or implied. Marine One never gets in the air without being escorted. Again....the escorts might not be visible, but are in very close proximity.

A plane taking off from Lantana airport got too close to Mar-A-Lago for comfort. An F16 from Homestead was scrambled to intercept. Because of that particular incident they no longer scramble fighter jets from Homestead AFB anymore as it is too disruptive to commercial air traffic. If a fighter jet in Homestead scrambles to Palm Beach, they must lock down all airports from Miami to Palm Beach County. Now they keep two fighter aircraft circling Palm Beach County whenever POTUS is in town 24/7. Same for Bedminster so they don't have to scramble from Fort Dixx.
