    Call centers

    What’re everyone’s experiences w/ using Eastern European agents? Looking to hire one or two to parse through a few aged leads. Any referrals would be appreciated.

    Well is there a reason why you've chose Eastern European vs any other country?

    If none, then it's likely the same issues as any overseas call center. First manage your expectations and let's stay on planet earth.

    Are you expecting them to call leads, identify who is interested and either live transfer or schedule a call back? Or do you want them to close all your deals for you while you're on the beach, paying them 1 point on the back end? Both of these scenarios are possible but one is much much less likely.


    Pros:

    Inexpensive upfront cost
    Usually good work ethic
    Can be trained and molded if you put in the time
    Can be extremely loyal if you show you're consistent, on time
    and take care of them (incentives help)



    Cons (Prepare for air bag deployment...):

    Language barrier - real prospects will hang up because of this,
    and only the desperate, unfundable will remain

    Robotic - They will sometimes do exactly what you say, without using common sense in a context sensitive environment.

    Must be trained - Or they will use bad technique and never improve

    Must be monitored - If they can get away with pretending to work and doing minimal to none, they will sometimes, until you get a solid group.

    Time scams - clock in at 6 am and start work at 9:30
    Recording scams - Use the same good recording for every agent

    Inability to cold call - Meaning unable to turn someone who might be on the fence. they usually won't have the vocabulary or finesse to generate enough credibility for a merchant to give it a shot.


    With that said, there are good agents and good call centers. You just have to test them and take the time to prepare them properly, and have a manager to maintain quality.
