When was the last time a funder went out of business due to a hurricane? Never.

When was the last time a merchant couldn't make payments as agreed due to a natural disaster? Today.

Marcus...paying rent for a dwelling or a business is driven by the economy and market. The rent for a home in Riviera Beach is much different than rent for a home in El Cid. Renting by the way is somewhat regulated. Some developments are required to have subsidized renters or an allotment for Section-8 housing. NY is rent controlled along with a lot of other major cities. Your case about protecting the poor renter makes no sense.
Again...if you can't afford the rent...move. I would not want anyone coming into my neighborhood saying "Hey...can I rent that house that has a couple of commas in the price tag for $1000/month because America is screwing the renter..... Um...Hell No!
