Credit Karma pulls Trans Union and Equifax( one free update weekly)...most Funders from my experience use Experian

The pulls are a Hard inquiry or hard hit( from Funders/Lenders) ...few companies do a soft pull, I think 3-4

All inquiries pulled in 2 weeks ( as far as credit score is concerned) usually count as 1 event( scoring wise) because it is assumed you were looking for 1 loan or advance. As time passes the effect of the hits lessen ( 90 days) and fall off in 2 years.( and it will say, "too many inquiries "until then )

In order to challenge the credit inquiry you must lob an accusation of "no permission or fraud", you must have a 30 day permissible purpose and permission to run credit and most applications say "any and all affiliates" so technically someone can't use your company specific application to run credit, they must receive a new updated one with new company specific info on it

You can request for the inquiry to be removed but if some of the Funders who "loosy goosey" run credit; pull back all the unauthorized credit pulls, they will lose their ability to run credit in the future. So it most likely isn't going to happen ( unless you know what you are doing you will cause drama). Also "some" Funders believe it's a legitimate pull when running the credit ( unless they personally know what your application looks like and knew it wasn't you). Its the backdooring offender's fault. That or the Direct Funder shopped it out.

You can write a letter to remove inquiry without lobbing accusations, depends on how its worded.Telling a client " all credit pulls within 2 weeks" sometimes eases their mind. And if they put a fraud alert on their credit it sometimes works against them in future underwriting, so tread lightly.
