Salary Range $50k-$60k based on experience

Role Overview
We are seeking a Finance Underwriter with foundational bank or regulated-lending experience who is eager to apply their knowledge in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial environment. This role is ideal for someone who understands traditional credit fundamentals but is excited to rethink them—bringing structure, judgment, and curiosity to a modern underwriting platform.

Key Responsibilities
-Evaluate credit applications using both quantitative analysis and qualitative judgment
-Analyze financial statements, cash flow trends, bank statements, and supporting documentation
-Apply bank-style risk discipline while adapting to alternative data and evolving underwriting models
-Collaborate with leadership to refine credit policies, risk thresholds, and approval strategies
-Identify opportunities to responsibly approve more deals while managing portfolio risk
-Document underwriting rationale clearly and consistently for internal and external review
-Participate in ongoing testing, feedback, and iteration of underwriting processes
-Partner closely with sales, operations, and credit leadership to support growth objectives

Required Qualifications
-Strong understanding of cash flow analysis, debt service, and credit fundamentals
-Ability to exercise independent judgment rather than rely solely on rigid checklists
-Comfort working in a changing environment with evolving guidelines
-Strong written and verbal communication skills
-High attention to detail with a practical, solutions-oriented mindset

Preferred Qualifications
-Experience in fintech, alternative lending, or banking financial services
-Exposure to small business, commercial, or consumer lending
-Familiarity with data-driven or model-assisted underwriting
-Interest in credit strategy, policy development, or portfolio performance
