Anyone know how to search and find if a merchant has a default?

I have done NY court search and other state websites and I can find UCC filings but how do I know if the merchant has a default?

If it's not on NY courts, it's probably not there. Otherwise, if you're a funder, then you can pay for access to datamerch, which is where a lot of funders ping first on submissions. Business credit will sometimes show these things also, DNB (about $10.75/pull) and/or Paynet ($50/pull).

I have used the link i have it saved in my favorites. I have had instances where the lender or multiple lenders have said the merchant has a default however when I court search nothing pops up. Is it better to search the business or the merchants name?

Either one. If it's a common first and last name you'll get a lot of results to sift through and some business names can be tricky depending on how it was entered into their system, like J&D Sales, J. & D. Sales, JD Sales, etc.

If you're not a funder and don't have datamerch, you'll just have to submit it and pray ; )
