Here's what I would do when hiring reps.

I would write a complete gargage non understandable paragraph.

Give them 2 minutes to read it.

Then have them read it back to me.

If it was smooth and clear with no hiccups, then they have the phone skills.

If it was a difficult delivery, then not qualified.

Experience...hire the person not the experience.....Training will do that.

There is no rules -- If we take the top 100 closers in MCA you will see many different backgrounds prior to offering capital to biz owners..... 1 shop hires ex. retail shop business owners and they are killing it.

You should really have the person who knows the industry and how to pitch and close these deals do the hiring...

It is a process like anything else....depends on what you're looking for. Personally we like people who don't know anything so we can train them our way and make sure they do everything we tell them to do. Experienced reps tend to do things their own way, and don't like to take criticism. They also have options to move elsewhere easily and you have to make sure they aren't stealing constantly. Non experienced takes longer to recoup your money considering you have to train them from ground up but in my opinion its the best way. Pick your poison.

Wish we had more industry experts which we have many who have built large brokerage shops reply to these posts who can share with the industry the knowledge of building some very successful shops. (most work with Capybara Capital... so i wont call you at by name! but we can really use you on here to give back to the industry...
