Funniest crime you found out about on background

Just curious and I felt like this could make for a funny thread on here. what is the craziest crime a merchant has committed that you discovered on background regardless of whether it killed the deal? bonus points if you still funded it regardless, I will go first.

    1. on background we discovered the merchant attempted to rob a bank with a showerhead recently and was currently on bond
    2. the merchant attempted to hire an escort and it turned out to be an undercover cop

I funded a deal with WBL that got rejected by others because the client had hired an "escort" and was caught. His business survived, but his marriage did not.

I worked for a direct lender for 6 years that wouldn't let me talk to brokers or clients because I was too honest....I think that qualifies as a crime.

Won't say but from his perspective, he is a broker driven company and he couldn't risk having me pissing off a broker who wants maximum points on every deal....just to try and get a better deal for a client. Nobody cares if I could get a better deal or even a second better loan after the MCA.

It's a profit driven business as witnessed on this forum. There are only a handful of people in this industry who work for the best interest of the client.

In the 6 years I worked for this direct lender, never ever heard a broker claim he wanted to get what might be in the best interests of the client.
