A good # of the A-paper funders (and some others), will file UCC's on initial fundings, whereas the higher risk funders generally only file UCC's in the event of default or at serious repayment issues.

All depends on how you you use them. UCC's can be great, good, or crap. Make sure you have a good source (InfoGroup or D&B) tailor and scrub your lists and be different from the other 900 companies calling them. If you get the updated list when it come out and run through it with your crew then you'll get a a lot of quality clients before the wave of telemarketing starts, the game her is to make a good impression and FOLLOW-UP (more than you think you should) and try to offer additional value outside of funding.
