*Phase 7 – The Contracting*Phase*

This Phase is the set of steps between Stage 6*and Stage 7.

*Key Step #3: Send out contracts to the merchant and call to confirm they received.*

Why is this important?

You've sold the terms of the deal, prompted an explicit buy signal from the merchant and requested contracts from Underwriting.

You have also organized the documents to help the merchant easily receive the docs, look them over, understand the process, and execute next steps smoothly.

Furthermore, you've double-checked what the best way to get the contract to the merchant is: electronic (e-signatures), physical docs, email or fax so you can quickly get the them there for review.

Now its time to send out the contracts and call immediately to make sure they were received.

Because merchants are usually juggling multiple responsibilities at the same time, it is often tough for them to focus on just one thing. *You want to confirm they got the contract, and preferably, this is the time to go over everything with them to get the docs signed and back to you asap.

Time kills deals.

Don't let too much time pass between you sending the contract and a call to confirm it was received. *If they are busy and they don't have time to go over it with you now, this is a great time to set a time target with them.

Its not about pressure, the merchant should take an appropriate amount of time to fully understand the contract. *This is about accountability, keeping the communication channel tight and the sales cycle short by addressing any questions or concerns head on.

Keep Calm and Fund On!
