Underwriters
Hi All,
Im opening my own shop and im curious how much an experienced UW is paid nowaday's.
I thought about just training someone but im more interested in someone that knows what theyre doing.
Any advice would be helpful.
TIA

If you're opening your own funding shop, then I have relationships with 2 experienced underwriters who you can pay "per file" at the beginning (outsourced) and they are also willing to help you train future ones.
If you are opening your own brokerage, then you don't really need an UW.

It depends on your infrastructure and volume. If you want to get someone experienced from a well established funder, you'll definitely need to pay with a taste of the company to make it worthwhile.

Depending on how big you are jumping out of the gate, Micah's suggestion to work with a contract Underwriter may make more sense. Or maybe work with an outside contractor as you also train someone internally.
Feel free to PM, I'll be glad to refer you along some contract underwriters with dedicated MCA/Fintech experience.

Average pay for an UW is 40-70k depending on experience and deal size. Some shops also pay per deal funded 15/50 per deal with a clawback if the deal defaults within the first 30 days.

Gables, first of all, I'm not so "random," people know me well enough already over here I think.
Secondly, do your own due diligence! I'm not making any money off of it, they have their own resume and history. One UW worked for CAN, one for Everest, they'll tell you what their loss of capital was..... Or go with what Robert's recommendations, he's definitely more reliable as a
One of those UW's was referred to me by someone who was hired by a funder to shore up operations, after he did the same for Rapid and Knight, as a contractor.
