A few comments:

-Cash Advances are gaining traction in the UK as an alternative to bank. Business in the UK accept alternative financing more so than businesses in he US. There is literally a factoring company on every corner.
-Banks are pulling bank from lending to the restaurant industry in general. Non-chains and independents are having tougher times finding sources of capital.
-There are a few alternative finance companies emerging that focus solely on restaurants. Having industry knowledge certainly gives them a competitive advantage.

In the US as well, a number of banks (Chase one of them) put grocery stores on their restricted list.
With restaurants, profitability is so contingent on tight management to keep food costs and waste low, and processes to keep customer turn over fast and consistent. And that’s with having food people want to eat in the first place.

You have to have a lot of personnel in different areas all executing well, (or be provided the system that executes well for you, like McDonalds) to keep your food business alive and growing.
