Hey there fellow daily funder,

Looking over at some of the largest funders of 2022, it is interesting to see that several relied primarly on good ol' fashioned split processing technology for repayment. Specifically, I'm talking about companies like Square, PayPal, Shopify Capital etc.

In the not too distant past, withholding percentages at the point of sale was the only way that such funders operated. But split processing was heavily replaced with ACH debiting, an even older technology than card splits. And soon daily debits turned to weekly and weekly debits turned to monthly. But the rankings show an incredible resilience with splits. One wonders if its prevalence will increase throughout the rest of the decade or remain a staple of the largest stalwart payment tech companies. We shall see...
