    The challenge with hiring for "review submissions + support partner relationships" is that you're really hiring for two different skill sets. The review work is largely systematic (checking completeness, validating data, flagging issues), while the partner relationship work requires judgment and communication skills. When you combine them into one role, you often end up with someone who's either overqualified for the review work or underqualified for the relationship management. What I've seen work well for funders at scale: they separate the systematic review work from the relationship work. The systematic parts (checking if bank statements are complete, validating revenue calculations, flagging missing docs) get automated or handled by junior staff with clear checklists. The relationship work (communicating with partners, managing expectations, resolving issues) stays with experienced people who understand the business. The funders who've done this successfully report that they can scale review capacity 3-4x without proportionally scaling headcount, because the experienced people aren't spending time on data validation, they're focused entirely on the decisions and relationships that actually require expertise. Not suggesting this is the only approach, but it's worth considering whether the bottleneck is really "need more people" or "need to eliminate the manual work that doesn't require expertise." The latter is often more scalable and less expensive than the former. Happy to share more specifics about what this looks like operationally if it's helpful. Good luck with the hire, finding good people in this space is always challenging.

    Every file is case by case basis with my company. We look at the whole picture with the deposit count industry ending daily balances credit content and not just score. I have funded plenty of files that either have low amounts of deposits and or lower 500 fico's if the whole file makes sense. We do ach and cc splits and on both programs we do not double dip the merchant on renewals on first positions and we will do a stack if qualified as well.     Brokers tell us they're unsure how to ask partners about submission protection without it feeling awkward or risking the relationship (red flag if it does). Wanting to understand how deals are protected doesn't need to be accusatory or confrontational. It's due diligence and smart business. It's how you protect your merchants and find partners worth keeping. Here is a template you can use as a starting point.
