    Most people giving away "secrets" or strategies are either

    1. trying to sell you something
    2. giving away the same information to 100's of people
    3. have no idea what they are talking about

    Most people will not give you the keys to their success, and marketing and advertising is the foundation to build that house on. Trial and error will make you successful or outsourcing it to a true professional with experience.

    Marketing strategists

    For sales, motivation, and just a boost I follow Grant Cardone... I'm reading the 10x rule now. I know you asked marketing strategists which in this case it's more motivation- but you tend to see things different after watching/reading stuff. That way when you come across companies that offer- you can make better decisions by what you learned and what you really want.

    Hey Amanda, Grant's 10x rule is a great choice! I appreciate Grant's take on goal setting. The habits he teaches are so important in our line of work.

    The Lean Startup, The psychology of selling, and spin selling stand out.

    Marketing itself is better to study each avenue individually... They each have their quirks and trial and error learning mechanisms. Direct mail is a vastly different beast than press 1, which subsequently is different than email... No book I've found really covers any avenue in much depth or detail.

    It's all about finding that blue water...

    The relationships that have made me the most money are the ones when I have given real, genuine advice to someone who had a real problem, free of charge, that they were able to immediately apply and achieve results.
    Great sales people are always selling, but when you stop to offer real value, people tend to notice and want to reciprocate. The people who fit in the three categories you mentioned, actually usually fit into 3 other categories:


    -Broke
    -Federal Indictment
    -Appear and Disappear quickly (Shiny Crap Ninjas)
