OnDeck requires a personal guarantee. CAN and others do not. Does anyone have a sense if merchants really care or understand the difference? Presumably, the personal guarantee requirement should push applicants away from OnDeck, but it doesn't seem like that is occurring.

Probably most merchants most haven't heard of a PG.

The ones that have heard of a PG care, but don't know what it really entails.

Of the ones that have heard of it and know what it entails, some will balk at it and others will not--either because they are getting a good enough deal or because they don't think it means much to PG a loan as it would affect their livelihood.

For medium to larger sized companies, especially with some publicly traded companies it is a problem. As a managing partner with the ability to sign up to $500k for the company, what if the board fires that partner, buys him out, etc? Then he has to personally guarantee that money after he was forced out of the company. In that regard, it is an issue.

That and the fact that OnDeck's PG reads about the same as a credit card.

Loan contracts require personal guarantees. Have you read them? Mca contracts have performance guarantees -
